Yellow to orange yellow crystalline powder, with a slight odor and bitter taste. Melting point 280 ℃ (decomposition). Easy to dissolve in alkaline solutions and sodium chloride solutions, slightly soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in ether and chloroform. The aqueous solution is yellow green in color, and the saturated aqueous solution is neutral. It has good heat resistance and acid resistance, but is easily damaged in alkaline solutions or exposed to ultraviolet radiation, and is also unstable to reducing agents.
