chemical properties
It is a light yellow viscous liquid, odorless, and slightly sweet in taste. It is soluble in benzene, glycerol, propylene glycol, hot ethanol, and cold ethyl acetate, but insoluble in cold water. However, it can be dispersed into an emulsion when stirred in hot water. The HLB value ranges from 8 to 14.5 (tetramer to decamer). The LD50 for rats is 20g/kg, and the ADIO is approximately 25mg/kg (FAO7WHO, 1994).
