Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose CAS 9004-65-3

Short Description:

Hydroxypropyl  Methyl  Cellulose CAS 9004-65-3

Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose is the propylene glycol ether of methyl cellulose, in which the hydroxypropyl and methyl groups are bound to the anhydrous glucose ring of cellulose through ether bonds, resulting in white to off white cellulose powder or particles with similar characteristics of cold water solubility and hot water insolubility as methyl cellulose.
The solubility in organic solvents is better than that in water, and it can be dissolved in anhydrous methanol and ethanol solutions, as well as in organic solvents such as chlorinated hydrocarbons and ketones. It is soluble in water, and its aqueous solution has surface activity. After drying, it forms a film. After heating and cooling, it undergoes a reversible conversion from sol to gel. It can be used alone in cold drinks or in combination with other emulsifiers and stabilizers, with a maximum dosage of 1% in cold drinks.
In recent years, it has been widely used in industries such as petrochemicals, papermaking, leather, textile printing and dyeing, pharmaceuticals, food, cosmetics, etc. as a dispersant, thickener, adhesive, excipient, capsule, oil resistant coating, and filler.
