1. Eat gelatin. It is an important ingredient and additive in the food industry, often used as a gelling agent, stabilizer, emulsifier, thickener, and clarifying agent in the production of meat products, cakes, ice cream, beer, juice, etc.
2. Biofilm materials. The most extensively studied gelatin based film materials both domestically and internationally are chitosan gelatin blend film, gelatin silk fibroin blend film, polylactic acid gelatin blend film, and polyvinyl alcohol gelatin blend film. These blend materials greatly enhance the physicochemical properties of gelatin, making gelatin based polymer film materials more functional. Gelatin is a hydrophilic chemical substance that is useful in tissue chemistry, bacterial culture media, and optical microscopy autoradiography.
3. Medical fibers. Improving the mechanical properties of gelatin based medical fiber materials by blending other composite materials with gelatin for spinning.
4. Organizational repair and replacement. The use of gelatin based composite materials as tissue engineering scaffold materials and signal molecule carriers is currently one of the research hotspots in biomaterials. Gelatin solution is crosslinked to form hydrogel, in which water is a porogen. After freeze-drying, porous scaffold materials are formed, and the porosity and pore size can be adjusted by changing the freezing parameters. Therefore, ideal gelatin based tissue engineering materials can be designed according to different tissue repair requirements.
5. Industrial gelatin. Used in the manufacturing of fiber textiles, insulation materials, paper, holographic materials, etc.
