5-Fluorocytosine CAS 2022-85-7

Short Description:

5-Fluorocytosine CAS 2022-85-7

5-fluorocytosine (5-FC), also known as fluorocytosine, 5-fluorocytidine, prochlorpene, or allopurine, is a white or off white crystalline powder. The inhibitory effect of 5-fluorocytosine on fungi is due to its entry into the cells of sensitive fungi, where it undergoes deamination under the action of cytosine deaminase to form the anti metabolite 5-fluorouracil. Later on, the individual switched to 5-fluorouracil deoxyribonucleoside to inhibit thymidine synthase, blocking the conversion of uridine deoxyribonucleoside to thymidine and affecting DNA synthesis. It has a good inhibitory effect on Candida, Cryptococcus, and Geotrichum, and also has an effect on some Aspergillus, as well as branching spore fungi and bottle fungi that cause skin fungal diseases.
